This is model of STEN Mk.2 is based on the model of Long Branch STEN Mk. 2, ordered by the Nationalist government (Republic of China), and bears the Chinese characters on the top of the magazine housing. Which is one of 72,882 which were produced at Long Branch as aid to Republic of China (although not all delivered) in the second world war.

These Chinese characters markings on the magazine housing are; the Top line is "si deng", phonetic of STEN; the second linen is "shou ti ji qiang", which means hand carry machine gun; the bottom line is "jia nada zao", Made in Canada.

After the war ended, the civil war in China surfaced, these STEN guns wound up on both sides of Nationalist and Communist forces. The Nationalist government retreated to Taiwan and issued these Canadian lend-leases and its clone (Model 38) STEN guns to army frogmen, military police, police and the local civil defense forces stationed in the outlying islands. And now the ones that survived the second war and the civil war are stored in Ordnance Readiness and Development Center (ORDC). However, these Chinese marked Mk. 2 STEN guns are also captured from communist forces in the Korean war and Malaysian campaigns.
