The Mosin Nagant is the longest-serving bolt action rifle in the world as this rifle has been the backbone of the Russian / Soviet military since 1891, its been around so long that it literally saw both World Wars, the fall of the Tsarist Russian Empire, and the rise and fall of the Soviet Union, and it is still serving the Russian Federation today in some capacity as it is seen used in the Russo-Ukrainian War. Over the years there have been many iterations and versions of the Mosin Nagant rifle one such version is the M44 or Model 1944 Carbine.

The M44 Carbine was designed to replace most full-length Mosin Nagant rifles for the Red Army Infantry, this is done so from the errors learned from major combats during World War 2, especially during the Battle of Stalingrad where a lot of fighting happened in close quarters, room to room and the full-length Mosin Nagants were just impossible to use in such tight spaces. The M44 Carbine is shortened and has a unique permanently affixed, side-folding cruciform-spike bayonet for possible hand-to-hand combat.

The Viva Arms Mosin Nagant M44 Carbine is a faithful replica of the World War 2 veteran, this rifle has a metal receiver and real wood stock, giving it a very robust feel to it, similar to an actual Mosin Nagant. The gun is so solid that there is no flex and creaking noise when you handle which is ironically built better than most actual Russian surplus Mosins.

This Mosin Nagant M44 Carbine is CO2 powered and the CO2 is stored in the detachable 12-round magazine. The Hop-up of the gun can be adjusted from the top of the receiver using an Allen key like most airsoft guns with TDC hop-ups. The takedown of the gun is also quite realistic as you would have to make sure the gun is empty and pull the bolt out while the trigger is pressed. Included with the gun is a high-quality nylon sling that is made similarly to the real one.

Lastly, the bayonet. The side-folding spike bayonet is present on this airsoft rifle, as you may already know from looking at the photos above. Yes, it is made of metal and it can fold, making it very realistic. However, as it is an actual metal rod, we would recommend keeping it folded in the rifle if you do decide to take this to the field for an airsoft skirmish as this bayonet if misused could lead to injuries.
